I love that Leicester is on God's list. Let me explain….
I was speaking at a conference in Manchester this last
weekend. As I usually do, when the audience is new, I start by telling them a
little bit about me and about the church I come from – Chroma Church,
Leicester. I always give a few stories from our church, relating to the fact
that it has been in revival for three years now.
At the end of my talk, a lady approached me. She explained
that she had recently moved back home with her mum, following the death of her
father. This lady’s mother is in her eighties and has a strong Christian faith.
God has been meeting the mum through dreams, the most common of which is God
telling her to go to Leicester.
This has caused something of a dilemma for the daughter, as
neither she nor her mother have any Leicester connections. This, of course, was
solved by my introduction and we can look forward to meeting both of them soon.
But what really excites me is the fact that God would speak
in such a way. Leicester surely is on God's hit list!
That's not the first time this kind of thing has happened. I
remember a friend having a dream where there was a hot spot right over
Leicester. The funny thing was she didn't recognise the city until she looked
it up in an Atlas the next morning. And then there's another friend who was
woken in the night, crying out for our city, even though he admitted that at
the time, he didn't even like the place!
It's exciting to be in a city where God is moving in revival.
But let me remind you of the Jean Darnall vision she had in the 1960s. Jean saw
many towns and cities on fire - many hotspots throughout the British Isles. So,
why not your city? Why not your town? Begin to gather, to invite the presence
of the Holy Spirit, to call for revival. And see what God will do. There are so
many towns and cities on God's agenda.
